o Contributed to the prevention of negative impacts for Refugees and host communities caused by the refugee crisis in Northern Uganda“ It is geered towards access to safe , nutritious and sufficient food; access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene as well as Non-food items and use these effectively to maintain health, dignity and well being. Special attention is paid to the needs of women and girls and peace building and conflict resolution measures.

o 800 Energy Saving Stoves (ESS) were purchased, distribution to the beneficiaries is planned to take place during the first quarter 2018.

o Caritas distributed sanitary material (Afri-pads) and re-usable menstrual sanitary material kits to one thousand (1,000) refugee women with special needs within the reproductive age brackets. Each beneficiary received 01 bucket, 03 pads, 01 bar of laundry soap and 03 pieces of under wears. The distribution of sanitary materials benefitted 60% to girls between the age of 12 – 18 years and 40% women of 19 – 48 years, thus more adolescent girls benefited. The provision of sanitary kits reduces the risk for refugee women of sexual assault or abuse and exploitation. The use of sanitary pads gives young girls in school age the chance to receiving uninterrupted education.

o A total of eight hundred (800) PSN refugees received NFIs which include blankets 01; basins 01, jerry cans 01, cups 01, plates01and mosquito nets 01, clothesformen, women and children 03 , saucepans 01and laundry soap 02 bars.

o The PSN beneficiaries receiving the above mentioned NFIs were majorly women 60%, children 30% and men 10%. To ensure equal access to all PSNs beneficiaries, special consideration were taken for extremely vulnerable case like pregnant and lactating mothers, eye impairment , disabled, widows, orphans, the elderly, unaccompanied children and child mothers.
