Who We Are
CARITAS Gulu is the socio-economic development arm of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Gulu. It is a commission with a pastoral obligation to offer charity and hope to the most disadvantaged members of society. CARITAS Gulu Archdiocese has branch offices in Kitgum, Gulu and Pader Districts; but also intervenes in the districts of Amuru, Nwoya, Lamwo, Agago, Omoro and Adjumani. CARITAS has been in operation for over 30 years since its founding as the Social Services and Economic Department of the diocese.
Target Groups
The Caritas ‘Option for the Poorest of the Poor’ can be summarized in the following sentences from the synod. ‘The disadvantaged and the oppressed be recognized, listened to and cared for’.
Where We Work
Our operations cover the districts of Gulu, Amuru, Kitgum and Pader which for over the last twenty years have been ravaged by the insurgent and counter insurgent wars

What We Do
A Programme is mandated to intervene in emergency situations and crisis faced by the communities in Northern Uganda.
The programme works towards supporting improved livelihoods in communities through interventions in food security, economic empowerment, environmental conservation, water, hygiene and sanitation for holistic and sustainable development in northern Uganda
