CARITAS ARCHDIOCESE OF GULU

Agriculture remains the backbone of many communities, providing food, income, and stability for families. Recognizing its importance, our organization continues to invest in knowledge-sharing sessions that bring together experienced farmers and new learners. In this recent training, participants gathered to learn practical and sustainable farming methods, focusing on the cultivation of cassava — a crop that plays a vital role in local diets and economies.

During the workshop, the facilitator demonstrated how to properly prepare and plant cassava stems to ensure healthy growth and higher yields. Participants were encouraged to ask questions and practice the techniques themselves, fostering a hands-on approach that makes learning more impactful. By blending traditional wisdom with new practices, the session helped bridge the gap between generations of farmers.

Beyond technical skills, the training also highlighted the broader benefits of sustainable farming. Participants discussed how improved techniques can reduce waste, conserve resources, and strengthen resilience against changing climates. These conversations emphasized that farming is not only about food production but also about stewardship of the land for future generations.

Our commitment goes beyond a single session. Through continuous support, follow-up visits, and mentorship, we aim to ensure that the skills gained here are put into practice and scaled within communities. By empowering farmers with knowledge, we are planting seeds of progress that will grow into healthier, more prosperous futures.
